Darko Sobota
Darko Sobota has been a rehabilitation technologist at the Center for Professional Rehabilitation "Zagreb" since 2016. He holds a degree in Information and Communication Systems Engineering. He is an expert in the field of assistive technologies, designing solutions, and creating plans for workplace adaptations for employed persons with disabilities, guided by the principle of reasonable accommodation. Since 2021, he has led the Department for Employer Relations, developing a cooperation network with employers and institutions. He designs sustainable employment strategies for people with various types and degrees of disabilities, depending on the needs of the employer and the assessed capabilities and abilities of the person with a disability. He oversees the entire professional rehabilitation process – from user assessment, work training, and forming an inclusive work environment to sustainable employment supported by available incentives for employing persons with disabilities, aiming for mutual satisfaction (of both employer and employee). He continuously monitors the labor market, devising and developing new ideas for the work integration of persons with disabilities. Technical adaptation of the workplace involves the customization of equipment and tools, depending on the job and specific needs of the person with a disability, to enable them to perform their tasks as independently and efficiently as possible. Employers who hire a person with a disability in the open labor market, individuals with disabilities who are self-employed, and integrative and protective workshops can obtain the right to co-finance the costs of reasonable adjustments to the working conditions for the employed person with a disability, if due to the type and severity of the disability, it is necessary to adapt the workplace with technical equipment.
